here we got:

STGLTZ

answering some questions. We have already observed his electronic / drone / noise / dark ambient work here.

[1. IDEA]

The A. O.: Can you tell us how “WOG 2206 came to light?

STGLTZ: I recently moved in with my girlfriend and as I went through my stuff, I came across this old function generator, which was given to me by a friend some years ago. It has WOG 2206 written on it. I ran it through several effect pedals, liked the sound and recorded it, that’s how the foundation of the track was made. Then I played around with different things, for example a noisebox, to add more sounds and textures.

[2. CREATION]

■ The A. O.: How do you usually approach composition? Do you start with a concept, a sound, a state of mind or what else? How do you generally proceed from the initial seed to the complete work?

STGLTZ: I usually just start with a sound. It can be a field recording, a sample or a drone. I love to manipulate sounds with timestretching, pitchshifting and other and I do a lot of reamping to try different combinations of effect pedals. Also I’m into cassette recorders and tape machines and I’m in love with delay and reverb. Sometimes I sit on an idea for days without any progress and sometimes I just sit down and finish a piece within one night. It strongly depends on my mood.

[3. FEEDBACK]

■ The A. O.: What do you hope listeners feel or experience when engaging with your music?

STGLTZ: It would make me really happy if my sounds evoke individual feelings and imaginations inside the listeners head. I’d like to create a space beyond time and the reality of everyday’s life. A sort of escapism.

[4. IDENTITY]

■ The A. O.: In a world saturated with digital music content, how do you try to keep your sound distinct and personally meaningful?

STGLTZ: I try to not think about this too much. Creating for me is my personal expression of feelings and a certain state of mind and I do it for myself. Of course I’m happy if people can relate to my sounds but I don’t have any illusions about my online reach…

[5. INFLUENCES]

■ The A. O.: Name 3 albums that you consider relevant to your musical path and why.

STGLTZ: Oh, that’s a tough one! I’m into all kinds of music, from jazz to extreme metal.

Mr. Bungle – Disco Volante

Sepultura – Roots

PanThyMonium – Dawn of Dreams

These 3 definitely changed my view on genre and limitation!

[6. REGARDS]

■ The A. O.: Leave us with a quote you love.

STGLTZ: “If you want what you have never had before, then do what you have never done before.” (Nossrat Peseschkian)
