Voices #15

Voices #15
◦ “voices” is the place where we ask, artists reply and you read.
here we got:

Eleonora Kampe

answering some questions. We have already observed her vocal / experimental / avant-garde / minimalist works here and here.
this dialogue follows the first observation.

[1. IDEA]

The A. O.: The track from “Breath. Play.” that we prefer is “Inner Peace Collapse Straight Ahead”. Can you tell us how it came to light?

Eleonora Kampe: This track was an independent mover in the plot. It presented itself as a result of mistakes in the mix that I didn’t undo. I liked how it sounded both threatening and gentle – it became an outro to the album, reminding me of the passing nature of all things.

[2. CREATION]

■ The A. O.: How do you usually approach composition? Do you start with a concept, a sound, a state of mind or what else? How do you generally proceed from the initial seed to the complete work?

Eleonora Kampe: Voice is an instrument inseparable from individual human experience. I like to observe that inseparable area. I like to interpret through voice art things that have happened to me and made me feel a certain way. As I proceed in a work I can end up playing around with my own sorrow, or sometimes also happiness. Translating it into musical composition or improvisation helps me create space between what I feel and what is.

[3. FEEDBACK]

■ The A. O.: What do you hope listeners feel or experience when engaging with your music?

Eleonora Kampe:  I don’t exactly hope for anything specific, but it is interesting sometimes when people tell me what they have felt while experiencing my art.

[4. IDENTITY]

■ The A. O.: In a world saturated with digital music content, how do you try to keep your sound distinct and personally meaningful?

Eleonora Kampe:  I don’t think about it too much, I try to stay open to my own creativity.
I feel like it is the best thing one can do, be attentive and follow your path. Life is too short to try it some other way but your own.

[5. INFLUENCES]

■ The A. O.: Name 3 albums that you consider relevant to your musical path and why.

Eleonora Kampe:Jimi Hendrix – Live at the Fillmore East
Glenn Gould plays Bach
Portishead – Dummy

[6. REGARDS]

■ The A. O.: Leave us with a quote you love.

Eleonora Kampe: Something simple from Bob Marley: “One love, one heart”.
