here we got:

Bee Resort

answering some questions. We have already observed his ambient / electronic work here.

[1. IDEA]

The A. O.: The track from “The Bee Resort” that we prefer is “A Mind Consumed By Meaningless Data”. Can you tell us how it came to light?

Bee Resort: This song was born during a time when I felt quite overwhelmed by work, and at the end of each day my brain would feel drained. One night I sat in my little synth corner and just let everything out, and that’s how that song came into this world, I believe it was created in a single, refreshing session. The title if I remember correctly comes from something a music critic said about Thom Yorke’s style of writing lyrics; that sentence came to my mind while working on this song and it just seemed perfect to describe how I was feeling.

[2. CREATION]

■ The A. O.: How do you usually approach composition? Do you start with a concept, a sound, a state of mind or what else? How do you generally proceed from the initial seed to the complete work?

Bee Resort: The main point of my project Bee Resort is to let music guide everything: I simply sit at my desk and play with synths, sounds and effects; sometimes I come up with good ideas, some others it’s weird experiments that I might revisit in future, but most likely I’ll just forget about. I try to keep this process as simple as possible, without too much planning beforehand, or editing afterwards. Finally, when the song is complete, I think about what might have inspired it, maybe a feeling, an idea or an image that I saw during the day, and I try to come up with a descriptive title – I keep a list of words and short sentences that I read or heard somewhere and stuck with me for this purpose.

[3. FEEDBACK]

■ The A. O.: What do you hope listeners feel or experience when engaging with your music?

Bee Resort: I hope my music can lead listeners to some deeper introspection. In this day and age, what we really need is some time to stop and reflect on ourselves, on how we truly feel. If one of my songs can help a listener wind down for a few minutes and meditate (in its broadest sense), I’m a happy person.

[4. IDENTITY]

■ The A. O.: In a world saturated with digital music content, how do you try to keep your sound distinct and personally meaningful?

Bee Resort: I believe it’s always useful to experiment a little bit, to be open to new ideas. By nature, I tend to stick the routine and find comfort in what feels familiar to me, but at the same time I’m very curious and dive head first into anything interesting that I read or hear about. With Bee Resort’s music I want to emphasise this latter trait of my personality: I try to embrace all the ideas that come to my mind during the creation process, whether it’s some strange sounds or exotic effects or field recordings. All the conscious and unconscious influences that guided this process make each song special and meaningful to me, which is what really counts.

[5. INFLUENCES]

■ The A. O.: Name 3 albums that you consider relevant to your musical path and why.

Bee Resort:Boards Of Canada – Music Has The Right To Children

This album introduced me to the ambient realm. The lo-fi atmospheres are something I had unknowingly been looking for, and that feeling of nostalgia their sound carries captured me in an instant.

Radiohead – A Moon Shaped Pool

I love this album, how sounds are layered together to create something infinitely greater than the sum of its parts, how each song flows into the next, what the lyrics convey and how they do it. Simply beautiful.

Brian Eno – Ambient 1: Music For Airports

The roots of ambient music. I love the idea of creating something that you can enjoy while doing something else, without paying too much attention to it, but when fully appreciated reveals a whole universe of interesting musical choices.

[6. REGARDS]

■ The A. O.: Leave us with a quote you love.

Bee Resort: “Happiness is only real when shared” – a quote I recently rediscovered thanks to someone very dear to me. Something we should always keep in mind.
