Voices #4
◦ “voices” is the place where we ask, artists reply and you read.
here we got:
Auditor
answering some questions. We have already observed his ambient / electronic / dark ambient / experimental work here.

[1. IDEA]
■ The A. O.: The track from “Anachoreisis” that we prefer is “Flooding”. Can you tell us how it came to light?
► Auditor: My functional memory was hijacked many years ago. I imagine I was probably teaching myself to play a Gymnopedie or Gnossienne and listening to them on repeat. I have a sampler, an SP-404. I likely fed it things that were then abstractly regurgitated and reassembled by hand and heart.
[2. CREATION]
■ The A. O.: How do you usually approach composition? Do you start with a concept, a sound, a state of mind or what else? How do you generally proceed from the initial seed to the complete work?
► Auditor: Purely subconscious fear and awe of death. Nothing is finished, only abandoned.
[3. FEEDBACK]
■ The A. O.: What do you hope listeners feel or experience when engaging with your music?
► Auditor: Either serene disgust or terrifying ecstasy.
[4. IDENTITY]
■ The A. O.: In a world saturated with digital music content, how do you try to keep your sound distinct and personally meaningful?
► Auditor: I mostly listen to the music of dead people, so if my music is derivative of anything contemporary I am blissfully unaware of it.
[5. INFLUENCES]
■ The A. O.: Name three albums that you consider relevant to your musical path and why.
► Auditor: ○ “Ween – The Pod”.
The sound of brotherhood and life. A soundtrack for the squishy in all of us.
○ “Jacques Loussier Trio – Plays Debussy”
I think this or their Satie/Bach would be my desert island album.
○ “Jocelyn Pook – Untold Things”
Like delving into the dreams of the dead. Could possibly be replaced by Portishead’s Dummy, for completely different reasons.
[6. REGARDS]
■ The A. O.: Leave us with a quote you love.
► Auditor: “If this were really happening, what would you think?” (Chris Morris)
